Longer nails are prone to chipping and breaking but there’s an easy solution to that problem. Fake nails are available in store or you can have it done professionally. Here are steps on how to use artificial fake nails:
1. Use a hand towel to keep polish and glue from getting on your table or fabrics.
2. Buff the surface of your natural nails. This will clean the nail allowing the glue to stick better.
3. Trim your nails.
4. Let your nails dry and once it’s dry apply the artificial nail.
5. Make sure that there’s no air bubble so press tightly and apply the glue at the gap between the artificial nails and natural nails.
6. When the glue dries then you can apply your polish.
7. Easy way to remove fake nails is soaking them with acetone and use a cuticle stick to take down off.

Woman just love taking care of themselves, it is a fact. Having all the latest products on the market is a must, but how many times do the little things that matter, actually get left out? The nails are one of the most ignored parts of the body, and worse, many women bite their nails.
Why Biting Your Nails Is Not Good For You:
Not only is biting your nails unhygienic, but if you do bite them, they are likely to grow back really jagged and uneven.
Do you know that when you bite your nails, you are ingesting a lot of germs? Studies have shown that under your nails, there is more bacteria there than if you were to lick a toilet seat. You definitely would not lick a toilet seat, so why bite your nails? Some men also find women who bite their fingernails, a turn off!
Imagine this scenario, you have taken a date home and things have progressed. You are running your hands through your dates hair, and all the sudden they notice your finger nails all chipped, broken and covered in dirt. They are hardly likely to find that a turn on, and they probably will not want to see you again.
The state of your nails can be an indicator of your overall general health, and if you use your hands a lot, especially whilst speaking, many people will see the state of them. With just a bit of care, your nails will thank you in the long run and it will be so much healthier for you than putting all that bacteria into your mouth. However, in order to look after your nails properly, you will need to understand them a little bit more and know what they need.

Your nails can complement almost any outfit in your wardrobe. The color, shine and shape of your nails speak volumes for who you are and how you feel about yourself. Now you can have beautiful nails without spending a fortune. Learn below how to give yourself a stunning manicure.
Why are Nails so Important?
Your nails will often give away your personality. Are you friendly and inviting? Are you daring? Are you reserved or do you shy away from people? Are you confident? Are you conservative? Your nails tell more than you think.
Your nails may seem unimportant, but they are actually crucial to your social life. When you meet a new person, greet a family member, or entertain a business associate, your nails show as you shake their hand or offer them a hug. On the job, you might show off your nails many times throughout the day as you hand people a phone receiver, finger through paperwork, or type on a keyboard. So, keeping them polished and neat is important.
The Self-Manicure
Giving yourself a manicure is easier than you think. Choose your nail colors wisely. Not all colors are meant for you. Try out several to find the one that fits your hand shape, nail shape, skin tone, and the colors you wear most often. Store your nail polish in the refrigerator if possible. Nail polish tends to thicken and become difficult to apply when it is exposed to heat.
!!!Important: Place the nail polish in a sealed plastic container before storing in the refrigerator to prevent contamination of foods or open drinks.
When you’re ready to apply your nail polish, don’t shake the bottle. Rub it between your palms to warm it up. Shaking the bottle can cause bubbles to form in the polish.
Steps to a Gorgeous Manicure
To get started with your self-manicure, shape your nails with a fine emery board. Work the emery board in only one direction, filing from the sides of the nail to the center. Next, soak your finger tips in warm soapy water to soften the cuticles. Dry the fingers and then push the cuticles down with an orange stick.
Buff your nails with a fingernail buffer from the tip of the nail to the cuticle. Rub hand cream onto your nails and hands, but remove the cream from your nails before applying the nail polish. The hand cream helps to condition your nails.
The final step is to polish your nails. Before you rush to apply your main coating of polish, be sure to apply a base coat of clear polish - at least two to three coats. Also, apply a clear coat atop your main nail polish every four days to prevent chipping.
A Manicure for Models - Modeling Photo Session Tips
Before a model photo shoot, get your nails ready for success! Ironically, your nails should NOT be the focus of the photos unless there’s a specific reason for doing so. Therefore, you should polish your nails with clear polish or a very light pink or beige polish to assure that the nails will not “take over” your photographs. French manicures work great for model portfolios. Speak with your model photographer if you’re not sure about the type of nail polish you should wear.
Giving yourself a manicure will not only save you money, but will also give you an opportunity to do something fun and artistic. You’ll be very proud of your nails knowing that you did them yourself!

Six Tips For Long Lasting Summer Nail Polish by Sally Hart
Warm weather is here, and that means most of us will be wearing nail polish more often to show off our hands and feet. The barer summer clothes and sandals mean your feet and hands will be center stage, so putting a few extra minutes into proper nail care is must for the prettiest looks. Whether you are applying nail polish to your hands or toes, the basic principles to make your manicure or pedicure last are the same.
1. Prepare your nails properly before polishing. Nail polish won’t adhere well to nails that are dirty or oily. Wash your hands thoroughly to remove any lotions, dirt or oils, and then brush each nail with a bit of nail polish remover. This will remove all oils from the nail itself and prepare it for accepting polish.
2. Lightly buff your nails and file off any rough edges. Polish will be more prone to peeling and flaking if the nails are rough around the edges or have ridges in them. Filing and buffing gives a smoother surface so that polish won’t flake.
3. Choose the right nail polish. Did you know that nail polish expires? Most brands will only last about a year before they become thicker and start to clump.Nail Polish that’s too thick will go on thicker and won’t dry well, leading to more chance of smearing or smudging. Most nail polish formulas are similar and will last almost a week, but fast drying formulas are an exception. The extra ingredients that allow fast drying polishes to set so quickly also makes them peel more quickly, so try to avoid fast-dry formulas unless you absolutely have to use them. The extra few minutes spent drying a standard nail polish will be well worth it if your manicure lasts days longer.
4. Care for your nail polish properly. Summer weather is especially tough on nail polish - the high temperatures can cause polish to separate and the color to change. To keep your nail polish in top condition, refrigerate it in the summer. You should also clean the polish bottle carefully after each use by wiping the outside edge of the bottle with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover to keep the bottle from sticking shut. Finally, be sure that you gently blend the nail polish before applying by rolling the bottle between your hands. Shaking a bottle of polish will create air bubbles in the polish that can cause bumps and clumps when you apply it - guaranteed to shorten the life span of your manicure or pedicure.
5. Use a base coat and top coat. It takes a bit more time to do a complete manicure rather than just throwing on some nail polish, but its well worth the effort. After your nails are clean, be sure to apply a base coat; this product prepares the nail for polish and gives nail polish something to cling to so that it lasts longer. Follow this with two thin coats of polish in the desired color, and then finish off with a quality top coat. When you apply the top coat, be sure to run the brush horizontally across the tip of the nail with a bit of it going under the edge of the nail. This will help prevent peeling and seals the manicure properly.
6. Don’t rush things. Be sure to let your nails polish dry five to ten minutes between each coat. If the coat below isn’t completely dry before you add the next one, your nails won’t dry properly for quite a while, leading to chips and smudges. If you are in a rush or simply impatient, plunge your nails into ice water for a few seconds between coats - this will quickly dry and seal the nail polish.
Enjoy your beautifully painted, long lasting nails! Remember not to open soda cans or pick at envelopes with your freshly painted nails. Using your nails as tools won’t help you keep your nail polish fresh at all!

Suddenly you discover some broken or badly manicured nails that are likely to ruin your image. Worse, you don’t have all the tools ready to get a quick manicure done! So what do you do under such a situation? Getting a professional manicure done regularly can be expensive and troublesome; why spend money on it when you can easily do it at your home? In this article I will tell you all about the tools you need to get a professional manicure done from the comfort of your own home.
1. Transparent treatment of your nails: Depending on the quality of your nails, they might need proper treatment. If your nails are always breaking apart or peeling away, you need a nail hardener. On the other hand, if your nails are dry, you need a nail moisturizer. If you are in doubt, your local pharmacy or doctor should be able to advise you as to what type of treatment is best suited for your nails. Proper treatment of your nails will ensure that they always look healthy and beautiful.
2. Protective nail polish: This solution will make for the basic foundation of your nail polish and will help the nail polish last longer than usual and also make your nails look nice and shiny.
3. An orange stick: You need to clear the dirt from your nails before you start polishing them, or your manicure will be broken. To clear dirt from my nails, I use an orange stick. An orange stick can also be used to remove the extra polish from the nails.
4. A Nail Clipper: You need to resize and trim your nails properly before you start polishing them. Some people make the mistake of using scissors for this purpose. However, scissors are not really very helpful in getting the desired results. So use a good nail clipper to trim your nails.
5. Nail buffer and polisher: Usually your file should have a tool which would help make your nails look shining. If your file doesn’t have that option, you can invest in a nail buffer or polisher. A nail buffer will smooth your nails and help them look shiny.
6. File or emery board: A file is a must have for any woman who wants to do the manicure herself. There are many different types of files available: some large and others small. Your best bet is to buy a large sized file that is stronger on one side or the other. This way, you will only need to buy the file once, and it will last for your lifetime.

Well manicured nails can make be the difference between a great first impression and a poor one. The way you keep your nails says a lot about you as a person, so keeping them is tip top condition is a must. If you want to make sure your nails always look nice, put together a little manicure kit that you can take anywhere. Here are some nail essentials that you should be sure to include.
1. Glass Nail File: For perfectly filed nails, it’s best to invest in a glass nail file. Although they tend to be a little more expensive than your average emery board, they are better for your nails. Glass nail files leave your nails smoother and less jagged than other types, are easy to sterilize, and are much better for acrylic nails.
2. Base Coat: While it may not seem very important to put that thin layer of clear polish on your nails before your vibrant colored polish, it actually essential to healthy and great looking nails. A good base coat can help protect your nails from staining, especially when using dark colored polish. It’s also a great way to ensure healthy nails that won’t split, peel, break, or become brittle. When purchasing a basecoat, look for one that contains aloe vera, or vitamin E to help fortify your nails. Nails that are healthy will look great and the base coat will help nail polish go on smoother and stay on longer.
3. Top Coat: A top coat for your nails will help keep nail polish looking great by preventing chipping and helping polish last longer. A top coat can help keep polish on during work, washing dishes, or other activities that can be destructive to a manicure.
4. Non-Acetone Nail Polish Remover: Non-acetone nail polish remover is important for a couple reasons. While a normal polish remover would suffice for simply taking some unsightly polish of your tips, it’s not recommended when removing nail polish from acrylic nails. Non-acetone polish remover is also a great way to help ensure your nail polish adheres to your nails properly. Remove any unwanted oils from your nails by taking a cotton ball dipped in non-acetone remover and wiping it across your nails. This primes the nails for painting. To make sure you’re always prepared, it’s good to have this multi-use remover on hand.
5. Nail Clippers/Tweezers: A good pair of nail clippers is an essential tool for your nail health and over all comfort. A pair of nail clippers that isn’t really up to par can lead to jagged edges and painful hangnails. Likewise, tweezers are also essential for keeping clean and healthy fingers nails and toenails.
6. Cotton Pads: Cotton pads are a great thing to keep in your nail kit. These cotton pieces can be used to remove nail polish, prime nails for applying polish, or help keep toes separated during a pedicure. They are inexpensive and are more practical than paper towels or tissues when removing polish.

When you go to the nail salon you will be offered services like manicures, pedicures, fake nails, gel tips, acrylic, porcelain nails, silk nails, full sets, fill ins, nail wrapping, buffering, polishing, nail repair, nail care, nail conditioning, and even maybe some hand painted nails. Most of those services are used to give your nails a look of being longer and more smooth or perfect.
Hand painted nails is where the stylist becomes an artist. They will do designs or even add a shimmer or sparkle to your nails for a small-added fee. However, do not think that getting your nails done will be cheap. You can pay anywhere from $30-$75 for your nails and over a hundred if you get both your fingernails and toenails done. However, it can be the ultimate way for one to pamper them, but it is not something that most people can afford every week.
Many people do get their nails done on a weekly or monthly basis even though it is expensive. Some people will even go as far as to write it off their taxes because society puts such hype on how we look or present ourselves.
When you go to the nail salon you can go with the traditional French manicure or you can get wild and crazy. If you work in a business setting, you may just want to go with the French manicure or go with something soft and elegant. When it comes to the business world, flashy is not the best way to go. Conservative is what you want to do. If you do choose to go with the wild look or be a bit funky, it could be that you are going to prom or some special dance at school.
Wild is mostly for the young, but when it comes to being professional, the neutral look is best. However, you may go to the nail salon without getting your nails painted or decorated. You can go for a nail treatment so that they are strong and beautiful or get a cuticle treatment. When you get a cuticle treatment, you are allowing the skin near your nails to look its best.
When you go to the nail salon, you usually do not have to make an appointment. Nail salons will even welcome walk INS. You may find that you will have to make appointments if it is part of a hair salon or spa; however, you can usually go to the mall and get your nails done. It is fun to go to the nail salon with your friends. On a Friday night, go with a couple of girls to the mall and get your nails done in funky and creative designs, because who cares! You will have all weekend to wear off the paint and before work on Monday; you can always take the polish off. So go out, go crazy, and have fun with the girls!

Giving yourself a manicure at home is fairly easy once you know how. However, you should ideally make sure that you give yourself plenty of time for one as the average manicure lasts around 45 minutes. If you have ensured that you have got enough time, here are some tips which will help you to give yourself the perfect home manicure:
First Prepare the Hands and Nails
It is essential that you prepare and clean the hands and nails before the manicure. To do this you should wash them thoroughly and then use a double sided emery board to file the nails down in gentle strokes.
Try and avoid the corners of the nails as you could weaken them, and then once finished start on shaping them. The most common shape used is the oval but you should choose whichever shape suits your hands better. Once you have finished that, to see how effectively you have done it try and run your nail over something such as pantyhose, and see if the nail snags. If not, you have done a good job!
Now Move to The Cuticles
After preparing the hands, you should now be ready to make a start on the cuticles. First, apply some softener to the cuticles and allow it to absorb for a couple of minutes. Next, place your hands in a bowl of warm water and soak them for another few minutes. Now it is time to push back the cuticles.
When you are pushing back the cuticles it should not hurt. If it does, try and soak them for a little while longer. If there are any hangnails visible, be sure to clip them off. Next it is time to apply hand lotion and start to massage the palm of your hand with your thumb on your opposite hand.
This really does help to circulate the blood. Be sure to continue doing this around the rest of the hand and then switch hands, making sure that you use the same amount of time on the opposite hand.
Clean and Polish the Nail
Before any color is applied to the nails, they first need to be cleaned. The easiest way to do this is to use an orange stick wrapped with cotton and dip it into nail polish remover before rubbing it over the surface of the nails.
Next use only a little color on the end of your brush, and paint one stroke down the centre of the nail. If done properly, the brush should have just had enough color to do this. Next brush the other two sides of the nail and you should be finished. It should never take more than three strokes to finish the nail.
Now make sure that the polish has a few minutes to set before applying a second coat. After the second coat has dried, apply a top coat which will help to seal the color and keep it looking good for longer.
After you have finished, it is important to sanitize all of the equipment to minimize the risk of infection the next time you use them.
Overall a manicure really can help you to relax, as well as keeping your hands really clean and healthy. Anybody can give themselves one at home as long as they follow the above steps.

Fake nails are ideal for creating a nice polished appearance. Some people can have natural beautiful nails, other don’t. Those who can’t may consider wearing fake nails. False nails are usually acrylic material. The material is very “strong” and will not easily crack, chip, or split.
Fake nails is not a new “bussines”. Acrylic artificial nails have been popular for over a decade. Prior to acrylic, press-on fake nails were used to create the illusion of longer nails.
Press-on nails were great for amusement, but they were not very reliable.
The days of press-on nails are gone. Today, women who wear fake nails opt for tips with a layer of acrylic. Nail technicians can usually apply fake nails within half an hour. Some may be hesitant to get fake nails because of some risks.Fake nails require proper care. Individuals with acrylic nails should return to their nail technician every two – three weeks for a fill-in. As the nails grow, the cuticles becomes visible. Additional acrylic must be applied to fill-in this area.
